image.jpg  As long as Microtech is growing as a company, and needs more moolah coming in they will always consider going back to older models to tweak or freshen up and reissue...a completely new design..(especially for a brand like Microtech whose past offerings overshadow it’s current products)...is not easy to whip up.
In the past we saw the Tachyon reborn, Vector/Kestrel, and nothing else comes to mind outside of the core models that are produced every 3 years or so...MT cycles through their OTF models every few years, the Socom is one of the longest running models constantly evolving from the Socom 96-2003 I believe, then Elites from 2000/2001..then late (October 2006..did that fun go into 2007?)...then 2011/2012...and now in 2018.
The Amphibian is one of Microtech’s greatest designs imo. It’s shape (to my eye) recalls the webbed feet of amphibious creatures and it makes a very serious/capable statement as far as its intended purpose. The early 2001/2002 models came in a forest green and a dark grey, complimenting what would be (in any color) a quality tool. I don’t recall seeing any Amphibians with a 2003 date but I think 2004 was the last run until the 2007 updated return of the knife, now only in m/a configuration with a D2 blade..that is more than 10 years ago. I recently asked members here if they thought older 2007/2012 Socom Elites would be devalued a bit by the new 2018 models coming out and selling at a bit of a premium in the first months....it was a premature musing that I put forth in my new enthusiasm after joining the forum and thinking through it for not that long🤷🏼‍♂️ Led me to remember that earlier models were not produced in the greater numbers that we see know for MT’s runs...if someone knows, what was the production run (or year) that saw a considerate bump in production for a single model? Was it during the 2010/2013 timeframe or is it much more recent?
My point being that my beloved green Amphibians will not be overshadowed by a 2018 updated run, as is the case with the new Socom Elite and previous examples.
A new Amphibian with M390 steel or CTS2O4P, the revised handle aluminum alloy and inserts, and the new hardware from the 2018 SCE would be amazing....and a gift for those just getting acquainted with the Microtech brand, to purchase because I think we all know just how difficult it is to get our hands on vintage Amphibians....I know this was a long one but I hope you all will take the time, thanks as always for interest in my nonsensical ramblings🧐

It will take  AN ACT OF CONGRESS For Microtech to reissue  the Amphibian  I have been telling and asking them to reissue the LCC Double Action for years As matter factbeen telling  them Any DOUBLE ACTION they make they will SELL as many as they can Build. But I think Double Actions are history with Microtech

I have to say I’m very pleased with the 2011 Select Fire d/a I just picked up...if  i’m not mistaken it contains the same mechanism that inhabited the 97-2002/3 d/a Socoms....the bolster release models, SWEET as they may be, can have more fatigue and wear issues as time goes by...not so much in the alternative mechanism which is a testament to the interal design ...
Now, how big should the new Amphibian run be??...hundreds or thousands, which is is what MT seems to be cranking out these days 🙄
