2 other Layaway purchased....gotta spread that money around😁....
...one is a double of a limited Benchmade AFCK I already own...and the other is a Spyderco Citadel...a 83 mm (3 1/4 in) DLC blade model...
i already have a satin 83mm and both variations of the large 92mm model...

I have to admit for a Folder it’s a tad bit ridiculous BUT it’s still one of the best designs Benchmade has produced from a customer maker...
But those Snody folders are like right up there with the AFCK (balisongs aside)  image.jpg

Was issued one of these on active duty. Found a vintage one a while back. Wanted to sharpen the false edge and do an acid and stone job. I did the false edge on my Worksharp.came out pretty good for my first attempt using the sharpener.

image.jpg  image.jpg  image.jpg  image.jpg  A new addition to my SOG collection...and I couldn’t be happier with it...well, maybe if it was the black TiNi model...but I’ll just have to pick that one up anyway...
This is the X-42 Recondo..
Customers were very happy with the knives that SOG had produced early on in Japan, but being knife collectors they were looking for something from SOG that was a bit more exotic, let’s say..
Something with a higher end steel and I’m not sure if they said anything about American production, but that’s exactly what they ended up getting.
Made from BG-42 steel hardened to  a Rc of 60...even though the blade  is marked with a Rc of 62.... initially  SOG  was going to harden the blade to 64 but the knives were to brittle...and even when they lowered it to 62 there were still problems  so production RC of 60 was chosen.
The X-42 Recondo Was never my idea of SOGs best looking knife when I first got to know the brand and their early production models..But it did grow on me and when you see the full black model and consider its rarity it grows on you even more. In person/in hand it’s a aggressive and attractive shape balanced with a handle sized to encourage confidence in using the thing..blade stock at the handle/tang end is just shy of 3/16ths..it has a very nice satin finish that so far in this knife’s life, has not been marred AT ALL by the sheath, or anything else for that matter....I should probably buy another when the opportunity presents itself 🤔😯

These two arrived today...
the 83mm Blk/Blk Citadel rounds out my little collection of the four variations Spyderco offered.
The Limited Ed. AFCK is a double, but I’m glad to have it image.jpg  image.jpg  image.jpg

Of the 4 Citadels I have...2large 2small...this is the snappy-est of the bunch. It’s also in the most “used” condition of them all🤨🤷🏼‍♂️....but like Ive said in the past of other second hand knives, I will reach for this particular knife many times over the rest because I’m not going to affect its value...and I’ve been in LOVE with the model since I saw Nutnfancy review it years ago...Blade HQ was selling them, On Sale for $120 I think😳😳😳😳....you can see this pattern over and over with some Spyderco models that have unconventional design...they don’t sell that great and 5 years later it’s worth 3times it’s initial retail price.. and some genius bought up a bunch when they were cheap.
The Citadel is my favorite among the 3 automatic models Spyderco has produced....this particular example feels like what they intended the design to be, a fast, sharp, strong reliable tool for serious use...OR obsessive collecting..

In addition to the small Citadel I just picked up, there’s this black beauty...I have two serrated models and now I can finally add a plain edge in a coated blade...Kershaw made a satin as well..sooooo, I could stop at 4 I guess...

There’s the Kershaw Rogue that is coming from ACK this Monday, and just now, 😳😳😳😳😳 I’m on EBay and see a SOG Government...looks almost black🤔...so it’s probably the “Recon” model with gun blueing 😯😯😯😯😯...and it’s has a “Buy it Now” price of $280?!?!?!....Noooooooooo Waaaaaaaaaaaaay!?....check out the location of the item and seller information.....looks good...BUY IT NOW...PAID and DONE 😁.....when these come up for sale, if they’re in unused but not mint condition, they sell above the $600 mark...sometimes more....and some sellers price it in the thousands of dollars...
The biggest fixed blade SOG made back in the Seki Japan days is the Tigershark...14 inches OAL with a 8 7/8 inch blade...first issued in a p/e satin finish with SK5 Steel...and later in a serrated powder coated AUS6 model...Cuttlery Shoppe had SOG make them a 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 run of “Midnight Tigersharks” ...that’s a p/e SK5 satin with a gun blue coating...gorgeous and rare and expensive $1000 plus off the top of my head without doing any research.
SOG blued the blades of its first S1 Bowie, the Recon Bowie and the X-42 Recondo...but they were regular production as opposed to the Midnight Tigershark AND I believe, the Recon Government / Government Recon🤔🤷🏼‍♂️....
Sweeeeeeeeeeet!😍
Correction...the Recon Government was not a special run ...but it rates 9.5/10 for rareness on the SOG Knife Collectors webpage...a fantastic source for information on the brand
