Just picked up this manual amphibian from a felow member here and here and I am quite pleased.

you can’t beat that old-school-cool that microtechs have. I can’t remember if 2001 was still Vero Beach or not, but this piece still captures that essence. The aluminum anodizing is dark gray but not quite black and it has the rubberized grip inserts. Very cool and also very light weight.

should make a really awesome EDC. On a side note, does anyone know if the microbar is Ti or steel? I’ll check with a magnet when I can but I figured it would be nice if someone wanted to chime in on their experience with the micro bar lock.

There was a lot of hoopla when the first prototypes were shown , I wanted one badly but the production model ended up with Aluminium handles instead of Ti and smaller overall.
Got one with green handle and a black boron blade. Great knife and darn hard to find these days.
the lock bar is steel with a spring pushing it onto the tang interface. Enjoy that beauty and use it👍

I like the size now, I think any bigger would make it awkward for EDC. To me, it’s like the Socom but more ergonomic and utility oriented

I carry an auto amphibian with serrated blade. It is just a great, tough, all around utility knife. You are right, it is very ergonomic and fits the hand. The black boride blade does not scratch up. If it gets gummed up, it's easy to wash out & oil, unlike an OTF. I work with horses & ropes around the corrals, and use it everyday. A couple of swipes on the sharpening rod keeps it sharp.  Yes, it's Vero Beach.IMG_0081.jpg

The OTFs Socoms and UDT lines get lots of glory and love from collectors and enthusiasts...but the Amphibian doesn’t need the spotlight...it doesn’t need to call attention to it self springing and sproinging all over the place...it knows it’s special, and just goes about it’s business knowing that the truly sophisticated and informed will seek IT out themselves...🥰

Wish they'd bring this one back, but maybe the Stitch is seen as filling the gap.

yeah it deserves a resurrection for sure. But then again so does the HALO iii, DA socom, select fire, square body OTFs, nemesis, [insert classic microtech here]

lets face it, microtech isn’t even recognizable anymore. They’re too busy trying appeal to a new generation to be bothered with appeasing old school fans
